The time has come for the big comeback of EYP Italy: DigItaly - 1st Digital Session of EYP Italy represents the glowing spark that will switch on again our engines. The Head Organiser, Enrico Zonta, is delighted to announce the first Italian event of this kind. DIGITALY IS ABOUT RESILIENCE As the SARS-COV-2 crisis seems to slow down our busy lives once again into the gloomy paralysis of a lockdown, the aim of DigItaly is to transform the harsh impact of the pandemic on our usual structures into an opportunity to reinvent ourselves through the challenge of innovating our methods. I would like to stress especially the fact that the aim is to ‘innovate’ and not to ‘adapt’: this means that we will not merely react to the forced digital nature of most interaction in these times, but we want to convert it into a key advantage. |
Inequalities in our society have been on the rise for many years under a variety of different aspects.
The widening socioeconomic gap among high-income and medium- low-income classes has resulted in extremely serious consequences in areas such as educational opportunities and medical care access, with the pandemic especially casting a light on that element.
At the same time, not only has the covid-19 crisis further exacerbated those divides, but it has also led to the risk of erosion of womens’ rights, given several socio-cultural factors in some Member States, as well as to a digital transition not occurring in an inclusive way, as significant portions of citizens still do not have equal access to online services.
With the possibility of rebuilding Europe on the basis of new paradigms and objectives, Bridging the Divides should be key in the long-term vision. That is why I want to highlight its substantial importance by focussing on this theme at DigItaly - 1st Digital Session of EYP Italy! I sincerely hope that DigItaly can provide interesting food for thought for all participants, that will be able to come up with their own ideas on how to bring more equity into our society.
